Which club do Scottish nationalists support?
Since Rangers have Unionist support and Celtic supporters are interested in things Irish, are Scottish nationalists affiliated with any other club besides getting behind the national team?
I think a fair amount of this comes down to the backgrounds of the clubs; with the perceived religion of each club being either Protestant or Catholic.
It would be of course wrong to generalize on anything, and this is certainly no exception – but the perceived view of many is; Celtic supporters are catholic, and therefore do not conform to the British Monarchy… and therefore wish for a Stewart to be King or something… looking back in history with bonnie Prince Charles, it is perhaps fairly easy to see where this perception could come from…
Today there is a view talking by many, rightly or wrongly that any SNP supporter worth their weight in salt wishes for the abandonment of the British monarch. Of course this view is divided among SNP members and general Scottish Nationals alike.
