Publish America
Why people are saying Publish America is a scam. I checked the bookstores. They have many books Publish America.?
If libraries Publish many books are America. It can not be a scam
Publish America is a factory copyright, which is growing more and more popular and is not exactly what a tabloid. There are a lot of good press around the vanity and self-publishing is a viable alternative to traditional routes and PA if that's all it was, I'm sure no one blamed. The problem is that the PA claims to be traditional, and claims to follow all the same things that traditional publishers do, as advance payments, publish books, have comments, attempt to obtain the books stored libraries, etc, when the truth is that they do not. I do not know what libraries that possibly control, but brick and mortar stores NO titles BP values, unless the author manages to find a friendly shop owner itself. Author factories rely on authors to buy copies of their books. When you press makes an initial impression of the heart and the author basically pays cost plus a little bit ahead, PA has a printing business on demand (that in itself is fine, since many large media companies to this movement as well) and only a "demanding" anything is the author. Model Authors generally buy books at the bookstore discount, and not receive any royalties on that. That is standard practice. However, the PA books tend to be priced on average $ 10 higher than the price of similar books in their respective genres, so even when an author is buying at a discount, PA is making a huge profit, and none of it has to go to the author. Moreover, the practice of all other editors, says an author purchase of copies in 40%, while the AP not only 20%. Other stores do not stock titles PA because they are too too expensive to be competitive (Unless an author manages to get into B & N and supplies the book itself), so PA never really have to pay royalties to the author. As for your "facts" page and see the way some things are right http://www.publishamerica.com/facts/index.htm word: not a vanity publisher. This is a scam. As soon as to their contract: Aburto http://www.cs.du.edu/ ~ / StingContract.pdf Once again, the authors only receive a 20% discount on copies they purchase. That's crazy! Only receive two free copies (which is fine for a small company, but claims to be a big PA). While they say they do not charge for editing, if the author wants to make "substantial" changes to his manuscript, PA charged money. The contract is for seven years, but the AP says that if the market is no longer interested in book, you can only stop producing it (which usually happens when he might have to start paying royalties). The only thing the contract in its favor is its provision audit, and each author has tried to envoke reported that he was threatened with a lawsuit for harassment and police had sent home. Now here's your recommendation on Preditors & Editors: "A press of the heart with a poor agreement. Numerous complaints writer. Author mill and scam. Not recommended." Check out this page for a detailed explanation of why PA gave this rating: You say http://www.anotherealm.com/prededitors/pebp.htm pay royalties ... yes, $ 1, so they can say to pay royalties. Take anything. Yes, anything. Are you familiar with Sting Publish America, by various authors SFWA? http://critters.critique.org/sting/ was decided to write the worst book possible, to see if PA would publish (you can read all the details on the above link no). Several authors were told to write chapters as bad as they could, without being told what order the chapters would be, or what any of the other writers were doing, then the book was launched in conjunction and sent to the PA, under the name "Travis Tea." Yes, it was accepted. Another author, this time of absolute Writing, conducted its own sting in which he wrote thirty pages of a book, then copy and paste over and over again, and presented to the Palestinian Authority. Then offered him a contract. Authors with them who have made complaints about their false claims numourous PA in the forums have had their posts deleted and removed members. There have been several cases in PA sent police to the homes of authors complain. What were they complaining about? Requesting that the books concerning book sales. Here is a series of real stories about the AF of the authors: http://www.wizardessbooks.com/html/PA_stories.htm And clearly saying enough of the facts can be found here: http://www.steelypips.org/miscellany/publishamerica.html
