Cannot Open Exe Files

Cannot Open Exe Files
Folders created in my flash drive turn into exe files that I cannot open or delete. Why is that?

Folders created in my flash drive turn into exe files that I cannot open or delete. These have an icon which looks like a usb flash drive. And also the flash drive's icon is also the same.(not the normal icon as in a removable disk).I cannot open the flash drive by double clicking on this icon in 'my computer' window.Sometimes I cannot format the flash drive.

My computer runs on windows xp s.p.2.Virus guard does not detect any viruses in the flash drive as well as in my computer.

What should I do?
Somebody please answer.............

You have autorun 'virus'.
You need to scan your computer with AVG (free) and Malwarebytes (free).
There is a manual method to remove the virus, but it is too cumbersome.
