Marketing For Real Estate Agent
How can I become a real estate agent?
I am 26, live in NJ and have a 1 year old son. I'm currently working full time and am in need of a change. I've always been interested in real estate. Can someone please inform me on how to become a real estate agent? I am also looking for soem stories from beginner agents. Are the first couple of years rough? How fast did you get into the swing of things? Was it hard to get hired? Any information to help me make my decision will be beneficial. My husband is supportive of my goals, but I have limited time due to my current career and my son. I also should say that I don't have a 4 year degree. I have some college under my belt. I ended up landing a good job with a great company almost 7 years ago and now work in marketing. Thank you!
The best - and least expensive - way to become a real estate agent is to attend your local or community college. They usually have the real estate licensing class that is required. In my state it is required before you can take the state exam; I'm not sure about yours. Most states do have some educational requirements though.
Take the class, study hard and take the state exam. Then sign on with a real estate office.
Real estate is an expensive job to start out in. You have to pay MLS fees, you have to provide adequate car insurance for taking customers to homes you want to show them, you have to pay fees - sometimes - to the office just to 'rent' desk space, you have to buy your own stationery, business cards, etc. And then you have to spend a lot on postal services so you can "farm:" that means sending out solicitations for business. It's expensive. You need about 6 months' living expenses before you get your first commission check.
Think real hard about it before you get involved. Ask questions.
Selecting The Right Real Estate Agents For Selling Your House
Choosing real estate agents for selling your home is a good way to go, but you need to be shrewd in making your choice. For today's home searchers, the internet provides a good starting place for browsing sites that are selling real estate and making home offers. Using the internet allows you to view the details of a property that may be located five states away. Distance is not a factor. You can look at homes all across the country, and right from the comfort of your current home.
The internet can give you the general feel and details about the home, but for nailing down all the facts, you need to consult with an agent.
If you're proficient in using the internet, then you'll have a valuable house hunting tool at your disposal. It can really speed up the process of searching for the home you want, without taking time to travel and look at the prospects in person until you have a specific one in mind. It's a perfect way to shop for homes and get a view of the market right from your house.
If your agent isn't good with the internet, then this agent may not be the one you want to deal with in today's market.
Many real estate agents will list their internet abilities in their profiles. This will give you a sense of confidence in their ability to help you nail down a good home. Because all this information is there on the web, and a good agent will take advantage of it.
As with a lot of professions, real estate agents need to update their training at different times of their career. Things change quickly and in order to stay competitive, they need to keep up with the changes. They take new courses and training for new programs that will keep them up to date with an agent for today's markets.
Another thing you may want to check, is how many sales your real estate agent's office has recorded for the past month. See what they think about you checking with some of the people they dealt with last month and ask about how they feel about this agent's work.
Pay close attention to how your real estate agent operates. So be diligent in choosing your real estate agent. It can save you time, money, and heartache. Your agent needs to be able to take your desires and needs and find the home that fits that profile. And he/she needs to be internet savvy as well.
