Working At Home Mom
Living at Home, Working, Schooling, Mom Problems?
im 25 & i moved home after graduating college because I was looking for a job & needed to pay off a lot of student loans.i found a job quickly & since then have been working full time & now i go to school again full time.i dont love living at home but still to this day money is tight.im financially independent from my parents in every way (food, insurance, car, etc) with the exception of rent which i understand is still a HUGE thing.my problem is with my mom.im gone mon-fri from 7:30am - 9:30 pm.she gets mad if im home & she sees me sitting online for an hour or if im not running errands for her. she constantly asks me to do stuff for her when she knows im on my way out to the gym.she makes me feel really guilty for not doing more around the house.it sounds stupid & that im ungrateful to be living here.i know shes busy & works hard but so do i & im frustrated that its taken me so long to get on my feet.im looking for a better paying job & im not a party animal but am i so out of line?
Sorry. . . .but you need to find your own place to live. You are an adult now.
Yes, you have financial concerns, we all do. And you will have bills to pay for the rest of your life.
I am amazed that you are allowed to live at home and not pay rent! And utilities! You are NOT financiallly independent from your parents. . . they are putting a roof over your head.
You should also be helping out with household chores (your own laundry, cleaning up after yourself in the kitchen, living room, cleaning your bathroom, taking out the trash, keeping the yard up, etc.).
If you can afford to go to the gym, you can afford to pay rent.
And it's very admirable that you're working towards a graduate degree; but that is your choice and you should not expect your parents to help support you.
Find yourself an apartment as soon as possible, move out, and take responsibility for yourself.
